The National Identification registration continues to accept children aged 5 years and up.

In Malalag, Davao del Sur, the local government has included the young age bracket in its Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) registration schedule posted on Facebook on Friday.

The registration centers are at the Malalag Central Elementary School, Bolton Elementary School, and the village gyms of Lapu-Lapu, Mabini, San Isidro, Kiblagon, Pitu, New Baclayon, and Rizal.

Registrations are accepted from Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays.

The municipal government also reminded that minor-age registrants should be accompanied by guardians.

Face masks and shields and own ballpen are likewise required.

“No heavy makeup and avoid wearing sando (sleeveless top),” the Malalag local government unit posted.

The August data of the Philippine Statistics Authority showed 26,322,999 Filipinos have already completed the demographic and biometrics processes while 3,036,747 Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards have been sent to the Philippine Post for delivery.

Aside from basic information, the PhilID has the PhilSys Card Number that can be used in public and private transactions.

The PSA reminded the public not to post the PhilID on social media to avoid fraud and illegal use.

Signed into law by President Rodrigo R. Duterte in August 2018, Republic Act 11055, or the Philippine Identification System Act, aims to establish a single national ID for all Filipinos and resident aliens.

The national ID shall be a valid proof of identity that shall be a means of simplifying public and private transactions, enrollment in schools, and the opening of bank accounts.

It also seeks to boost efficiency, especially in dealing with government services where people will only need to present one ID during transactions. (PNA)
