As the country continues to grapple with Covid-19 pandemic, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Davao donated 38 hospital beds and various medical equipment to Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC).

In a statement on Wednesday, the bureau said lawyer Erastus Sandino Austria, BOC-Davao District Collector, led the delivery of one 40-footer containerized van with 38 hospital beds, walkers, medical trolleys and folding beds, among others last Aug. 16.

The donation will boost the health facility’s patient-care capacity making sure that all patients coming in are properly taken care of and accommodated.

Austria assured the public of full operations despite being on skeletal work arrangements and the expeditious release of all commodities especially Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), medical equipment and donations arriving in its ports of entry.

“Being front-liners ourselves, we remain committed to the call of duty to ensure that goods are released without undue delay in this time of crisis,” he said.

SPMC medical chief Dr. Ricardo B. Audan officially received the donations.

He expressed gratitude to the bureau as these will add up to their current medical facilities for their frontline workers and patients. (PNA)
