The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has deployed 9,720 operatives to secure the transport of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines from February 28 to August 15 this year.
NCRPO Chief, Maj. Gen. Vicente Danao, in a statement Wednesday, assured the public that they would continue to ensure that the vaccines are transported and delivered safely to all vaccination sites in Metro Manila as the government’s vaccination program gains momentum.
Based on the latest data, as of August 15, a total of 41,554,605 Covid-19 vaccines and diluents have arrived and have been transported to various destinations.
This includes 41,083,005 vaccines and 471,600 Pfizer diluents – a substance used to dilute the jabs.
During the transport, 9,720 police personnel were deployed – 4,672 personnel from Southern Police District and 5,048 from Eastern Police District.
This is to make sure that the vaccines are safely brought and transported from their point of origin.
The government has earlier identified the NCR and eight other areas in the country – Metro Cebu, Metro Davao, Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Pampanga, and Rizal – as priority areas for the deployment of Covid-19 vaccines.
The National Task Force Against Covid-19 said as of August 15, a total of 27,806,881 Covid-19 vaccines have been administered across the country – with 15,241,864 Filipinos getting their first dose while 12,565,017 have been fully vaccinated. (PNA)
