The provincial government of Negros Oriental is preparing to roll out Pfizer vaccine for the second dose of residents who received this US brand a few weeks ago.

The inoculation against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) will be at the Lamberto Macias Sports Center here from July 16-18, the Capitol Public Information Office announced on its Facebook page on Thursday.

Previously, the vaccination was done at the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital.

Assistant Provincial Health Officer Dr. Liland Estacion, in a virtual presser, said the transfer of venue is to better enforce physical distancing since there is a bigger space at the sports center.

Last month, the Provincial Health Office led the administration of 1,117 doses of Pfizer vaccine for a few days following the shipment’s arrival on June 24.

The vaccines had to be disposed of at the earliest time possible as the province does not have an ultra-cold storage for this particular brand that requires below-freezing temperatures.

Meanwhile, Estacion appealed to the people to not flock to the sports center if they are not on the list of those qualified to receive the second dose of the Pfizer jabs.

She also said the province is expected to receive additional vaccines, such as AstraZeneca and Sinovac, in the coming days. (PNA)
