“The country needs a new President, like Yorme, that can end the deep division and hate politics that has prevailed the country for decades now.” Voices of leaders of Ikaw Muna (IM) Pilipinas, group and organization come together to launch their movement “challenging” the Mayor of Manila Mayor Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso, also known as “Yorme”, to be part of the Presidential race this coming 2022 elections.
Tim Orbos, former MMDA General Manager and IM Pilipinas lead convenor stated in his opening message “Yorme has demonstrated his capacity and readiness to rechart the course of our country’s governance through his no non-sense, decisive and visionary leadership that we badly need, especially, as we face the full social and economic impact of the pandemic.”
“Napakabigat ang babalikatin nang susunod na Pangulo ng bansa dahil sa mapanirang bunga ng pandemya sa buhay ng bawat Pilipino. Mabilis na rin nagbago ang mundo dala ng pagsulong ng teknolohiya. Kaya wala nang panahon ang Pilipinas para sa mga mapanghating pulitika. Kailangan iisang bangka tayo na sumasagwan sa iisang direksyon, sa tulong ng isang pinuno na may direksyon, tulad ni Mayor Isko,” The former IM Pilipinas lead convenor also expressed that he believes in the potential leading powers of the Mayor of Manila.
Fr. Ranhilio Aquino a member of the Duterte Administration’s Constitutional Commission (ConCom) delivered a recorded video message stating “I do not know Mayor Isko Moreno personally. But what struck me most is his ability to get his message across effectively; his ability to reach out to the people of Manila and how he gets the job done. I think Mayor Isko Moreno is a suitable candidate for the presidency, should he decide to run, and that would be good for the Filipino people” He stated.
Elmer Argaňo, IM Pilipinas Secretary General also stated “there are other provinces that, as we speak, have also started organizing IM Pilipinas volunteers in different provinces to amplify the call for Yorme to take on the presidency in 2022.” And Ending the statement saying “We call on all Filipinos, including our overseas Filipino workers abroad, to join us in this campaign to urge Mayor Isko to lead the country. This is a battle for unity towards social progress, and we need a compassionate leader, apart from having the right skillset, experience and global perspective,”
The event consisted of over 200 leaders from sixteen provinces in the Philippines. It was attended virtually with other leaders of IM Pilipinas who presented video recorded messages encouraging and expressing their support for the Mayor of Manila.
