The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) introduces the mobile vaccination for Covid-19 to serve senior citizens and persons with disabilities who do not have access to the different “bakuna” centers.

PRC’s goal is to make the vaccination program more accessible due to the low turnout rate.

According to Pulse Asia Survey, six out of 10 Filipinos do not want to get vaccinated. This mobile vaccination will increase vaccine confidence as PRC will bring the mobile vaccination right to the doorstep.

These buses were previously used in the vaccination of more than one million children against polio and measles-rubella.

PRC pioneers the mobile vaccination clinics in the country. The buses are also equipped with a cold chain system, mobile refrigerator, and vaccine cabinet for administering vaccination against Covid-19.

“Nagawa natin ito noong pagbabakuna kontra polio at measles. Magagawa din natin kontra Covid-19 (We have done the vaccination before against polio and measles. We can also do it against Covid-19),” PRC Chairman and CEO Senator Richard Gordon said in a media release on Tuesday.

Three days ago, the PRC mobile vaccine clinic was showcased in Marikina with the support of the local government unit to vaccinate industrial workers in the city.

Marikina Mayor Marcy Teodoro attended the event and was very grateful for the initiative of the PRC head and the Red Cross to reach more communities with this innovation.

PRC deployed the mobile vaccine to Navotas as the humanitarian organization aims to vaccinate fisherfolk in the night markets and fishing ports.

“The mobile vaccination will be there where we are needed. Our goal is to reach the last mile upang mas marami ang mabakunahan lalo na ang mga nangangailangan. Lahat ng Pilipino may laban. Lahat ay protektado (to have more people vaccinated especially those who need it most. All Filipinos have a fighting chance. All are protected),” Gordon said. (PNA)
