The City Health Office (CHO) said the city government has opened the city’s biggest vaccination site located at Azuela Cove in Lanang, here.
City Health Office (CHO) acting head, Dr. Ashley Lopez, in a radio interview on June 2, said the Azuela Cove vaccination site opened on Wednesday and can cater to up to 1,000 vaccinees per day.
“This is the biggest vaccination site established in Davao City, which can cater to a thousand people per day,” he said.
With its establishment, Lopez is hopeful that the vaccine allocation intended for this city will not be delayed and would eventually increase.
He said the Department of Health (DOH) 11 (Davao region) has allocated 6,000 doses of Sinovac Coronavirus vaccines (CoronaVac), which will be distributed to various vaccination sites.
“It is already running out (supply) as of this time and we hope our vaccine supply won’t be stopped nor interrupted so that we can maximize our sites,” Lopez added.
He admitted that the city temporarily stopped the utilization of other vaccination sites but clarified that it is not due to the shortage of vaccines but for disinfection reasons.
“It is not because of the vaccine allocation from the national government but due to disinfection. It (vaccine site) should not operate for one month straight. It should have an interval and at least one-week disinfection to also give a break to the vaccination team staff,” he said.
Lopez, however, assured that the city is expecting the bulk of vaccines on June 6 and 7.
He said the city conducted an ongoing installation of the new swabbing area in Magsaysay Park that will help hasten the testing of F2 and F3 contacts, and Davao quick response or DQR-traced persons in the city.
“It’s almost complete and I think anytime, we will be starting our swabbing activities there,” he added.
The city has three main swabbing centers – Sta. Ana Health Center, Crocodile Park, and Magsaysay Park.
Crocodile Park, according to Lopez, will be the main drive-through and surveillance swabbing for bigger groups while the Sta. Ana swabbing center will only cater to F1 and persons with influenza-like illnesses. (PNA)
