The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) government and Lanao del Sur provincial government have agreed to put up PHP400 million worth of water projects in Marawi City in support of the government’s rehabilitation efforts.

BARMM Chief Minister Ahod “Murad” Ebrahim and Lanao del Sur Gov. Mamintal Adiong Jr. inked Sunday the memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the expansion of the Marawi water system covering five areas of the city, according to BARMM Interior Minister Naguib Sinarimbo.

Sinarimbo said the signing was done at the extension office of Murad in Barangay Darapanan in Sultan Kudarat, Maguindanao.

He said the water expansion project will benefit the residents of Mindanao State University (MSU) Zones 1, 2, and 3; the Bless Area; and the 12th Infantry Battalion up to the Pugaan area.

“The project is in support of the national government’s efforts to rebuild the war-devastated city through the Task Force Bangon Marawi,” Sinarimbo said.

Adiong lauded the BARMM government for prioritizing Marawi City and Lanao del Sur by providing funds for the multi-million water project that is among the many BARMM-supported undertakings aimed at improving governance and betterment of the people in the area.

Marawi City has 96 barangays. (PNA)
