Former residents of Manila who were relocated to cities and provinces outside the capital have also received assistance through its food subsidy program (FSP).

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso directed the Department of Public Services (DPS), headed by Kenneth Amurao, to deliver food boxes to former residents who are now in Naic, Cavite, and Bulacan towns Pandi and Norzagaray.

“I hope nakatulong ng kaunti ang inyong pamahalaang lungsod ng Maynila. Basta kaya nating abutin, mapa-Maynila man o sa labas ng Maynila, it doesn’t matter. Ang importante ay magtulungan tayo kasi pandemya ito (I hope the city government of Manila was able to help. As long as we can reach you, in Manila or even outside of Manila, it doesn’t matter. What is important is that we are able to help each other because this is a pandemic).” Domagoso said in a statement.

As of this writing, 2,850 food packs have been delivered by the DPS to Naic (800 on April 21), Pandi (1,400 on April 23), and Norzagaray (650 on April 25).

Each food box has three kilos of rice, 16 canned goods, and eight sachets of coffee, the same contents of packs distributed in Manila.

During the distribution, recipients brought out chairs where DPS personnel placed the food boxes, thus avoiding direct contact.

Since its launch in February, FSP has delivered food boxes to almost 700,000 families in Manila’s 896 villages.

The distribution will continue until July.
