The Department of Health (DOH) turned over on Wednesday five units of ambulance to the city government to boost the delivery of local health services amid the health crisis.

Dr. Joshua Brillantes, DOH regional director, led the turnover of the ambulances in front of the City Hall. Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, received the donation.

Brillantes said four of the five ambulances will be distributed to the different birthing clinics and one to the Cristino Paragas Memorial Hospital in Barangay Quiniput here.

He said the acquisition of the ambulances will improve and enhance the delivery of health services in this city.

“These are lifesaver machines wherein we can easily refer patients needed to be referred to a well-equipped hospitals,” Brillantes said.

He urged the recipient birth clinics to put to good use the ambulances given them.

The five units of ambulance were purchased by the DOH utilizing the 2019 Congressional Fund.

Meanwhile, Second District Rep. Manuel Jose Dalipe II, vice chairperson of the House committee on appropriations, has expressed his heartfelt gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go and the DOH for the acquisition of the five units of ambulance for this city.

“I am very proud to witness the turnover of these ambulances to our hospitals and clinics in the City of Zamboanga. Our hard work has paid off. We hope and pray that you will maximize the utility of these units in order to serve our constituents especially this time of pandemic,” Dalipe said. (PNA)
