The local government here made the registration for the Iloilo City Covid-19 Vaccination Program more convenient and accessible by opening centers in two big malls in the city.
The registration centers at the third level of Robinsons Place, City Proper, and on the ground floor of the Megaworld Festive Mall in Mandurriao district will cater to walk-in applicants during office hours on weekdays.
“We open two sites at the malls for walk-in registrants to make it accessible and convenient for those who would like to register for the vaccination program,” Jeck Conlu, head of the Public Safety Transportation and Management Office (PSTMO) and spokesperson for the Iloilo City Covid team, said in a phone interview on Wednesday.
Apart from the two malls, registration is also available at the city hall and 180 barangays.
Those who are interested are advised to bring their identification cards as proof that they are residents or they are students or workers residing or working in the city, he said.
Conlu, however, said they temporarily set the deadline of registration for senior citizens on April 15 because they need to come up with the data on registered elderly to be submitted to the national government.
It will serve as the basis of the city in requesting additional vaccines.
“After our front-line health care workers, we will proceed with our vaccination of senior citizens,” he said.
As of April 13, the city has registered 10, 947 senior citizens while there are 4, 878 registered medical front-liners.
Meantime, Conlu said the vaccination for frontline workers assigned at the City Health Office (CHO), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTS), PSTMO, and quarantine facilities continues.
Around 832 have received their first dose.
On April 15, the 610 medical front-liners, will receive their second dose, he said.
He added that Iloilo City will get again around 4,000 doses from the 28,800 vials that arrived in Iloilo Wednesday morning.
The Sinovac vaccines are for Panay and Guimaras.
“It’s a new allocation for remaining medical front-liners. The remaining vaccines will be for our elderly,” he said. (PNA)
