A total of 15,288 more patients recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019, as per Sunday’s data, pushing the total number of recoveries nationwide to 577,754, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

In its 4 p.m. case bulletin, the DOH said the figure represents 87 percent of those who tested positive for the virus.

The agency also reported 7,757 new confirmed cases and 39 new deaths, bringing the overall tally to 73,072 active infections (out of 663,794 cases) and to 12,968 fatalities.

The DOH noted that 95 percent of the active cases are mild, 2.3 percent are asymptomatic, 1 percent are severe, 0.58 percent are moderate, and 1.1 percent are in critical condition.

“There were 10 duplicates that were removed from the total case count, and of these, three recovered cases have been removed. Moreover, four cases that were previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH reported.

On Saturday, DOH data showed 4,891 or 14.8 percent of 33,110 who were tested turned out positive.

Currently, there is a 21,400-bed capacity dedicated to patients with Covid-19.

Available are 53 percent of 1,900 intensive care unit beds, 39 percent of 13,500 isolation beds, and 38 percent of 6,000 ward beds.

About 31 percent of 2,000 ventilators are available for Covid-19 patients’ use.

The agency reminded the public to continue observing minimum public health standards – physical distancing, wearing of masks and full cover face shields, and proper handwashing. (PNA)
