The provincial government here will implement stricter health policies against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

Governor Daniel Fernando, addressing his constituents in an official social media post on Friday, reiterated the importance of imposing stringent health standards to limit the transmission of the virus.

“We will implement more strict health protocols and standards to prevent the recurrence of Covid-19. We want to ensure that those we endured and fought for during the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) will not be in vain,” Fernando said.

The governor said self-discipline is the best shield against the disease.

“May karampatang parusa at multa ang lalabag sa health at Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) protocols dahil ang pinakamabisang panlaban ay disiplina ng bawat isa, ang pagsasagawa ng minimum health standards, kaya ugaliin po natin ang patuloy na pag-iingat at huwag po natin itong balewalain, huwag tayong masanay sa mali (There are appropriate penalties and fines for those who will violate the health and inter-agency task force (IATF) protocols because the best defense is the discipline of everyone, the practice of minimum health standards, so let us continue to practice extra caution and let us not ignore it and let us not get used to wrongdoings),” he said.

He said although the province has earned acknowledgments from the national government for having the lowest rate of infection and highest recovery rate of 96 percent and zero death in the last months among the provinces surrounding the National Capital Region, Bulacan is still at war with Covid-19.

He also said, according to reports, Covid-19 transmission increased during the past holiday season which is why he is calling on everyone to step up their vigilance and do their part.

“Ang bawat isa ay maaaring mag-ambag sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay prayoridad sa minimum health standards para patuloy na makabalik ang mga tao sa kanilang pagtatrabaho, maiiwasan ang pag-akyat ng kaso at mawala ang pangamba sa pagsasara ng mga negosyo at kawalan ng trabaho, at mas magiging mabilis ang pagbubukas ng ekonomiya (Everyone can contribute by giving priority to minimum health standards so that people can return to their work, prevent cases from rising and to lose fear for the closing of business and jobs and for the faster opening of the economy),” Fernando said.

Surveillance updates as of 4 p.m. of Jan. 20 showed that 10,090 (90 percent) have recovered, 703 (6 percent) are active cases and 408 (4 percent) have died from Covid-19 in the province. (PNA)
