Three hundred ninety-three public school teachers in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) have received P45,000 each after the regional government released their three-month worth of salaries on Thursday.

The amount represented the teachers’ PHP15,000 per month salary from October to December last year.

Mohagher Iqbal, BARMM education minister, led the salaries’ distribution on January 13-14 at the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) building inside the BARMM center in the city.

The 393 para-teachers are from Marawi City, Lanao del Sur, and Maguindanao, who have temporary appointments as they have yet to pass the licensure examination for teachers.

“With P15,000 salary per month, they were re-employed from provisional to Contract of Service following my request to BARMM Chief Minister Ahod Ebrahim and the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Management (MFBM) to extend their services until the end of the school year 2020-2021,” Iqbal said.

One of them was Joharie S. Mangorsi, 46, who has been a provisional teacher for ten years in Lanao del Sur.

“I was rehired as para-teacher at the Sultan Disimban National High School in LDS Division II,” he said.

The schedule of the releasing of salaries for para-teachers in the island provinces of Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi is yet to be announced by the BARMM education ministry. (PNA)
