The city government here resumed Wednesday the distribution of 25-kilo sacks of rice to residents as part of efforts to help them cope with the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

The first of nine barangays scheduled for the rice distribution this month is Poblacion 8, a media advisory from the City Public Information Office said.

The other barangays are Junob (Jan. 7); Bantayan (Jan. 8); Calindagan (Jan. 11); Piapi (Jan. 12); Camanjac (Jan. 13); Mangnao (Jan. 14); Tabuc-tubig (Jan. 15); and Bagacay (Jan. 16).

The city government started the rice distribution last December but took a break for the holidays.

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo was quoted as saying “kining ikaduhang hugna sa paghatag ug tag 25 kilos nga bugas gikan sa kagamhanang siyudad tabang karong panahon sa krisis tungod sa Covid-19 (This second round of rice distribution of 25 kilos of rice is the city’s way of helping the people during this Covid-19 crisis)”.

The beneficiaries were previously identified through the City Social Welfare Office and the barangay officials.

Employees from the Office of the Mayor and barangay officials are delivering the rice assistance to the homes of the recipients.

The delivery is on a first-come, first-served basis based on barangays that were able to complete and submit the requirements to the city government. (PNA)
