The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) on Tuesday said it would launch an online job fair on the first week of December.

Administrator Bernard Olalia said the project aims to provide employment opportunities abroad to job seekers.

“Instead of a physical job fair, we will have it online. The link can be accessed at the POEA website (www.poea.gov.ph) and we will guide and directly supervise this online jobs’ fair,” he said in a Laging Handa briefing.

Olalia added that the project also aims to get rid of illegal recruitment activities and also to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

“To our fellow citizens, in line with our prevention to become victims of illegal recruitment, we are launching an online job fair next week. This is also our response to help stop the spread of the deadly virus. This is our way to help our OFWs (overseas Filipino workers), and those who would like to work abroad. Those who will have the opportunity to provide their families with a better life…” Olalia added.

Meanwhile, he assured Filipinos abroad that the government is ready to assist them and all they need to do is seek the help of POEA, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), and DOLE.

“If they need any assistance especially repatriation, we are here, the POEA, OWWA, and DOLE, we are ready to respond and assist all of you,” the POEA head said.

Before the pandemic, job fairs are held in different areas in the country providing work opportunities, local and overseas, to those looking for jobs, and those who would like to change careers among others. (PNA)
