The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 8 (Eastern Visayas) is calling for volunteers to speed up the packing of relief goods for typhoon victims in Luzon.

Joshua Kempis, the DSWD regional disaster response management information officer, said on Thursday that they are preparing 10,000 family food packs (FFPs) to augment the relief operations in areas affected by the two recent typhoons.

He said they need more volunteers to be assigned at the DSWD regional warehouse in Abucay village here.

“Their main task would only be the repacking of FFPs which contains six kilos of rice, assorted canned goods, and five sachets each of coffee and cereal drinks. We don’t have information yet as to when these relief goods will be transported but we are fast-tracking the repacking with the help of volunteers,” Kempis said in a phone interview.

The regional office thanked all the private individuals and members of the Philippine National Police and the Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity Tacloban chapter for assisting them since it started repacking this week.

Kempis said interested volunteers could contact them at 0919-061-6190 or 0995-934-5145 for scheduling.
