A senior citizen became the latest fatality from coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in this province, bringing the death toll to 30.

Citing the latest report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO), Governor Albert Garcia said the 30th fatality was a 63-year-old woman from Hermosa town.

The PHO report also showed that the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases rose to 1,918.

This after 37 new infections were recorded with 17 from Limay, nine from Mariveles, six from this city, two each from Hermosa and Dinalupihan, and one from Pilar.

Of the confirmed ones, 866 are active cases.

Garcia said contact tracing showed that 21 of the new cases had close contact or exposure with those previously found positive of the virus wherein 10 were from Limay, six from this city, three from Mariveles, and two from Hermosa.

Among the 21 are two female children from this city aged nine and six years old.

The other new confirmed cases are seven from Limay, six from Mariveles that include three health workers, two from Dinalupihan with one health worker, and one from Pilar.

Meanwhile, the PHO said the number of those who recovered reached 1,011 with the recoveries of 48 patients — 25 from Mariveles, 12 from Pilar, seven from Balanga City, two from Samal, and one each from Dinalupihan and Hermosa.

The 48 patients include four children — two-year-old girl from Pilar, two-year-old boy from Samal, and five-year-old and seven-month old girls from Mariveles.

The PHO said that of the 18,911 who underwent Covid-19 tests, 1,918 were confirmed positive, 16,535 tested negative, while 458 are still waiting for the results. (PNA)
