Most parts of the archipelago will experience light to moderate to at times heavy rains due to a low pressure area (LPA), a weather specialist said on Tuesday.
The LPA was last tracked 225 km. west-northwest of Catarman, Northern Samar, or 40 km. west of Pili, Camarines Sur.
Aldczar Aurelio of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, Mindanao, and Aurora will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
He warned residents of these areas to take precautions, as flash floods or landslides are possible due to light to moderate with at times heavy rains.
Aurelio said the LPA may traverse the Southern Luzon – Visayas area.
“The LPA may develop into a tropical depression by Wednesday or Thursday, and will be named, ‘Leon’,” he said.
Meanwhile, PAGASA expects isolated rain showers over the rest of Luzon due to localized thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds, moderate to rough seas will prevail over the northern and eastern parts of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
Over the rest of Luzon, winds will be light to moderate with slight to moderate seas, PAGASA said. (PNA)
