The Pasig City government targets to isolate 200 more patients in its centralized quarantine facility to manage the local transmission of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) within communities.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Vico Sotto shared a photo of his visit to the patients and healthcare workers housed in Pasig’s Centralized Quarantine Facility at the Rizal High School on Saturday.

“Sa bawat pasyenteng nakapasok dito ay maaaring sampung tao ang naligtas natin. Maaaring isang libo, hindi na natin malalaman (For every patient entering here, we may save 10 people. It could be a thousand, we never know),” Sotto said in his post.

Sotto said the local government is doubling its efforts to pull out more infected people away from their communities, in order to be treated immediately and to contain further infection among other residents.

“We are working double-time to pull out more people from the communities so we can care for them here. For the next week, our target is to put 200 more mild cases in #CentralizedQuarantine,” he said.

Since the centralized quarantine facility was established and accepted cases, Sotto has been visiting the center to look into the patients’ conditions as he encouraged them to remain strong in their fight against the dreaded virus.

Meanwhile, Sotto said the city government has discharged some 41 patients who recently recovered from the Covid-19, on the same day of his visit.

He said Covid-positive patients with mild symptoms or asymptomatic are the priority patients to be isolated in the centralized quarantine facility.

Sotto also lauded healthcare workers who have been part of running the entire facility.

As of August 8, Pasig City recorded a total of 2,231 confirmed cases, where 1,234 are active cases, 868 have already recovered, and 129 died of Covid-19.

Sotto reminded residents to stay home and always adhere to the city’s preventive measures against Covid-19. (PNA)
