The number of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) infections among Filipinos abroad rose to 9,192 as 27 more cases have been reported by the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Thursday.

Based on the latest DFA data, there are nine more patients who recovered―six from the Asia Pacific and three from Europe―bringing the total number to 5,378.

There were no recorded fatalities. The death toll stands at 647.

As of posting, those undergoing treatment are at 3,167– at least 167 in the Asia Pacific, 495 in Europe, 2,385 in Middle East/Africa, and 120 in the Americas.

“As we celebrate the birth of Apolinario Mabini today, the DFA seeks inspiration from the life of its first Secretary of Foreign Affairs as a paragon who strives selflessly ‘to do for his countrymen the most possible good’ especially during these challenging times,” the DFA said in a statement.

During the virtual DFA Day celebration, Undersecretary Eduardo Malaya noted that the agency has facilitated the return of some 90,497 Filipinos affected by the pandemic– more than half of the repatriates in 2019 which was at 141,242. (PNA)
