A three-month-old baby boy from Barangay Biday in San Fernando City, La Union was discharged from the city’s isolation facility on Wednesday as he recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Mayor Alfredo Pablo Ortega said the baby is the fourth recovery recorded in the city and 14th in the entire province.

“His first negative result was on May 13 from the swab taken from him on May 3 and the test was performed on May 11. His second negative result came out on May 19 from the swab taken from him on May 13 and tested May 15,” Ortega said.

The baby was confirmed as Covid-19 positive on April 27 and was admitted to the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center on the same day, he said.

“As we celebrate another victory for our city, let us not put our guard down and continue to work together to keep our city healthy, peaceful and clean. Let us not stop praying to our God because he listens and heals,” Ortega said.

La Union province has a total of 21 confirmed cases as of May 19, of them 14 have recovered, three are still admitted to the hospital or isolation facilities, and four have died. (PNA)
