The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is donating a thermal cycler and other essential medical supplies to assist the Philippines in its response against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“The IAEA is donating a RT-PCR Covid Detection Machine & software & various PPEs (personal protective equipment). Expected delivery date to the Philippines is on 31 March,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin, Jr. said on his official Twitter account on Thursday.

The official said the donation is worth around PHP4.69 million.

Several countries have already extended aid in the Philippines’ efforts to address the Covid-19 situation in the country.

Last Tuesday, Locsin received a total of 3,000 test kits for Covid-19 and a thermal cycler from the Singaporean government.

The donation follows the assistance extended by Beijing which sent a total of 100,000 test kits to the Philippines and the United States government that allocated over PHP139-million to assist the Department of Health. (PNA)
