Applicants here for the March 15 civil service examinations pen-and-paper test are advised to wait for further announcement as these were suspended due to rising cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

“It is necessary to suspend the exams as a preemptive health measure to mitigate the rise in the number of Covid-19 cases and to support the national and local government units in undertaking appropriate response and measures in a timely manner to curtail and eliminate the Covid-19 threat,” a statement released by Civil Service Commission (CSC) Ilocos Norte Office said on Tuesday.

The examinations were supposed to be held in 66 testing locations nationwide with an estimated total of 295,711 examinees nationwide registered to take the test.

Of the figure, about 253,811 applied to take examination for professional level, while an estimated 41,900 will take the sub-professional level examination.

The Provincial Health Task Force in Ilocos Norte convened a meeting on Monday to ensure the province is prepared in dealing with the Covid-19 without putting the health of any person at risk. (PNA)
