AirAsia Philippines has relaunched its Manila-Ho Chi Minh route and at the same time added another domestic flight — Clark-Bohol — in time for summer.

The airline’s first flight to Ho Chi Minh City and its Clark-Bohol route are scheduled to commence on March 29.

In a message to the Philippine News Agency (PNA) on Monday night, AirAsia Philippines chief executive officer Ricardo Isla said the Ho Chi Minh route was first launched in 2017, and was postponed in August 2019.

He, however, declined to mention the reason for postponement.

“It’s really been part of the drawing board to strengthen both domestic and international network of AirAsia Philippines. We’ve been fast-tracking route launches, and Ho Chi Minh comes right after General Santos and Zamboanga (launches),” Isla said.

According to AirAsia, Ho Chi Minh is known as a business hub of Vietnam, and a popular tourist destination often visited for its French architecture, fresh local cuisine and historical attractions.

Isla said the carrier has been offering this route via Manila only.

Meanwhile, this is the first time the carrier would offer the Clark-Bohol route.

The goal is to improve connectivity among the country’s tourist destinations.

Guests from Clark can now fly directly to the Bohol-Panglao International Airport.

From Clark and Cebu, guests can also fly to Zamboanga and General Santos beginning March 29.

These new routes would link Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, as the carrier made a commitment to support a livelier tourism, AirAsia announced earlier. (PNA)
