3 of geothermal leader Energy Development Corporation’s (EDC) projects that promote environmental conservation received Philippine Quill awards from the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC)–Philippines.

Now on its 17th year, the Philippine Quill is one of the country’s most prestigious award-giving bodies that honors the most reputable organizations and companies that make use of excellent communication to achieve their business goals.

EDC’s Battle of the Brains, an exemplary quiz bee competition for senior high students in Negros Island that aims to generate and sustain awareness on environmental issues and on sustainable development, won a Quill Award of Excellence.

The company also took home two Quill Awards of Merit for its BINHI greening legacy, a forest restoration program that engages stakeholders in saving threatened Philippine native trees, and its “OMGeo” travel vlog, an eco-tourism initiative that showcases the geothermal resources as well as the other must-visit spots in Negros Island.

Established in 1976, EDC is the world’s largest vertically integrated geothermal company and the largest diversified renewable energy producer in the country, with installed total capacity of 1,471.8 MW of purely renewable energy. Environmental conservation as well as inclusive growth for its partner communities have always been embedded in its operation, which are both integral to the long-term viability and success of renewable energy in addressing the energy needs of the Philippines.
