The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Davao Region (DSWD-11) reported Thursday that PHP600,000 worth of livelihood projects under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) program were successfully turned over in Talaingod, Davao del Norte, and Laak, Davao de Oro, providing sustainable opportunities for Friends Rescued (FRs) and members of the Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICC/IPs).

The agency said that on Sept. 15, the Tatag IP Farmers PAMANA Livelihood Association in Barangay Palma Gil, Talaingod, received PHP300,000 in seed capital for a motor spare parts supply and vulcanizing service center business.

“The enterprise, composed of 21 ICC/IP members including FRs, was formally blessed in a ceremonial rite symbolizing the start of their new source of income,” DSWD-11 added.

Meanwhile, in Special Barangay Talle, Kidawa, Laak, the Bagong Laak Farmers PAMANA Livelihood Association also received PHP300,000 in seed capital for an agricultural and veterinary supply enterprise.

“The group, composed of 17 FRs, aims to provide both livelihood and essential supplies for farming and livestock management in their community,” the agency added.

Beyond financial support, the projects are designed to strengthen self-reliance, promote stable income, and encourage active participation in community development. The agency emphasized cultural sensitivity and community ownership, ensuring that ICC/IP beneficiaries are empowered to lead their own progress.

“Through the PAMANA-Peace and Development Buong Bansa Mapayapa (PDBBM) program, communities continue to gain opportunities to improve livelihoods, enhance resilience, and contribute to peace and development in conflict-affected areas,” DSWD-11 added. (PNA)
