Eight local government units in Antique are recipients of multipurpose halls with costs totaling PHP41 million funded by the national government and facilitated by the Uswag Ilonggo Partylist.

Partylist Representative James Ang, who led the inauguration of the first four multipurpose halls in the municipalities of Anini-y, Hamtic, Belison and Patnongon, on Wednesday said the projects provide a more convenient place where the public could hold their meetings and other activities.

The four others in Bugasong, Tibiao, Culasi and Sebaste towns will be inaugurated on Thursday.

“The Uswag Ilonggo finds ways in order to deliver projects that could really be of use to the people of Antique,” Ang said in his message.

He said that as a party-list representative, he serves as an “ambassador” to look for projects from national government agencies like the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The eight multipurpose halls are the first of the 18 that will be implemented in all towns of the province this year until 2025.

The projects are funded and implemented by the DPWH through the 2023 General Appropriations Act.

“We are also planning to have as for our next project in the municipalities the construction of the public malls and upgrading of the school buildings,” Ang said.

While in the province, he would meet with the Department of Education (DepEd) officials to confer on the plan to upgrade their school buildings.

He credited Senate Pro-Tempore Loren Legarda and Antique Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda for helping source funds for the projects.

“Many projects are up for Antique because of Senator Legarda,” he said.

Meanwhile, Hamtic Vice Mayor Julius Pacificador said they are fortunate to have the project in their municipality.

“We are grateful to the Uswag Ilonggo party list for providing us with a two-story multipurpose hall that we really need,” Pacificador said. (PNA)
