The government is expecting to receive some six million doses of Covid-19 vaccines within this week, National Task Force Against Covid-19 (NTF) chief Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. announced Monday night.

Among the deliveries are four million doses of government procured Sinovac which will be delivered in two million doses each on Aug. 19 and 20.

The Chinese government will also send its donation of one million doses of Sinopharm on Aug. 21, while about 594,000 doses of AstraZeneca jabs purchased by the private sector will arrive the day before.

Between 400,000 and 500,000 doses of Moderna are also scheduled for delivery.

“So all in all po, more or less mayroon po tayong six million na darating po ngayong linggo (All in all, more or less six million will be arriving this week),” Galvez reported to President Rodrigo Duterte during their meeting in Davao City.

The Philippines has so far received over 8.7 million doses this month.

“Ito nga po ang nilalakad natin po sa American embassy dahil mayroon po tayong 65 million na nabili po sa Pfizer, sa Johnson & Johnson, at saka po sa Moderna (We are in talks with the American embassy because we purchased 65 million doses of Prizer, Johnson & Johnson and Moderna),” Galvez said, adding that the NTF already requested the manufacturers to set an advance delivery.

To date, the Philippines has a total of 42,575,350 doses — 23,704,090 procured by the national government; 2,935,000 bought by local governments and the private sector; and 15,936,260 from the COVAX Facility and bilateral donations. (PNA)
