Six new evacuation centers worth PHP222 million will be added to the six-newly built disaster-resilient facilities in some villages of Bicol Region after the national government released its fund for bidding.

“These buildings will be constructed in Camalig in Albay, Daet in Camarines Norte, Libmanan and Buhi in Camarines Sur, Balud and Mobo in Masbate,” she said.

Castañeda said each building has an allocation of PHP37 million. The national government released the budget to DPWH-Bicol, which, then offered the projects for bidding.

The projects were approved after the local government units donated lots for the facilities.

Each of the completed two-story evacuation building constructed on at least 3,000 square meters of lot have facilities such as toilet and bath, laundry and drying area and water tank.

The buildings are said to be resilient to typhoon, earthquakes, flooding, landslides, tsunami and volcanic eruptions. (PNA)
