Some 551 residents from San Isidro town in Siargao Island received PHP2.8 million worth of payments for the 15-day work they rendered through the Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating mga Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

In a statement Thursday, the office of Surigao del Norte 1st District Rep. Francisco Jose Matugas II said each of the beneficiaries received PHP5,250 in the payout conducted on Wednesday.

The regular wage designated for beneficiaries under the Department of Labor and Employment’s TUPAD program is set at PHP350 per day.

“We continue to provide funding for the TUPAD program of DOLE to support our residents whose sources of income were severely affected by the pandemic and the previous calamities that hit Siargao Island,” Matugas said.

Meanwhile, some 700 beneficiaries from Del Carmen town on the island are also set to receive their TUPAD payments on Friday.

An estimated PHP3.6 million worth of payments will be released to the beneficiaries for the 15 days of community service. (PNA)
