Fifty of the 128 barangays in this summer capital were conferred the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) for their commitment to transparency, accountability, and community service.

In an interview on Monday, Mayor Benjamin Magalong said the award is not a mere recognition but a reflection of the dedication of barangay officials to uphold good governance.

“It shows the initiatives of barangays officials to serve their constituents well. It shows that they too support the city’s good governance thrust,” he said as he congratulated the 50 barangays for inspiring communities to pursue integrity and progress in public service.

The recognized barangays are: Alfonso Tabora, Andres Bonifacio, Atok Trail, Aurora Hill Proper, Abanao-Zandueta-Kayang-Chugum-Otek (AZKCO), Bakakeng Central, Camdas Subdivision, Camp 7, Camp Allen City Camp Central, City Camp Proper, Country Club Village, Dominican Hill-Mirador, East Bayan Park, Engineer’s Hill, Fairview Village, Fort Del Pilar, Hillside, Holy Ghost Extension, Honeymoon, Imelda Village, Kabayanihan, Kias, Legarda-Burnham-Kisad, Loakan Liwanag, Loakan Proper, Lourdes Proper Subdivision, Lourdes Subdivision Extension, Lower Lourdes Subdivision, Lower Quirino Hill, Lower Rock Quarry, Magsaysay Private Road, Middle Quirino Hill, Middle Rock Quarry, MRR-Queen of Peace, Palma-Urbano, Poliwes, San Antonio Village, San Roque Village, San Vicente, Santo Tomas Proper, Scout Barrio, South Drive, Teodora Alonzo, Trancoville, Upper Market Subdivision, Upper Quezon Hill, Upper Quirino-Magsaysay, Upper Rock Quarry, and West Quirino Hill.

The SGLGB recognizes barangays demonstrating outstanding performance in financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, environmental management, and business competitiveness.

The awards were presented during the Regional Celebration of the 34th Local Government Month held on Oct. 24 in a hotel in the city. (PNA)
