As the Miss Universe pageant of 2023 fast approaches, knowing our country’s candidate should always be the first step in showing support to the woman who will represent the Philippines.

Well, we’ve got you covered, because here are the things that you should know about Celeste Cortesi, our country’s bet for Miss Universe 2023.

1. Celeste is half Filipino and half Italian

Silvia Celeste Rabimbi Cortesi, commonly known as Celeste Cortesi, is the daughter of her Filipino mother from Camarines Sur and a Spanish father from Italy.

Cortesi was raised in Parma, Italy when she was young and had already pursued the world of pageantry after finishing high school.

She resembles someone who is family-oriented, as she frequently mentions her family, especially her late father, during her previous pageants.

2. She was hailed as the Miss Earth Philippines in 2018

Cortesi first made her presence known in the local pageant scene through the Miss Earth Philippines 2018 competition.

Other than becoming the titleholder for the Philippines during the pageant, she was also able to grab the eighth spot for the international placement of the contest.

Cortesi was the first contestant who was crowned as Miss Earth Philippines and represented the Filipino communities from abroad, specifically in Rome.

3. She proudly shares what she advocates

As she continues her pageantry career, Cortesi continues to use her platform and public personality to show the importance of women’s empowerment.

“I’ve always believed that beauty should go beyond physical appearance. And to me, a woman of style and substance is someone who is true to herself. She’s capable to inspire others through relatability, authenticity, and kindness.” she said as she received an award from a local magazine.

Besides this, she also supports the world’s largest charity, which supports babies and people born with cleft. On her Instagram account, she shared a post to spread awareness of a campaign that gives free surgery to cleft children.

4. She got tattoos!

Yes, you read it right! Cortesi has tattoos, and there are a few of them. From small to big-inked tattoos, she was so proud to show these babies through her social media platforms.

Despite being a beauty queen, Cortesi did not miss any chance to get herself inked, and people tend to support her love for tattoos as these were also visible during her swimsuit entry as Miss Universe Philippines 2022.

5. She wanted to pursue real estate management

Back in the day, Cortesi was not able to gain her college degree because she was not able to choose her desired course and had already started to find a job to help her mother.

But this does not stop her from pursuing a profession afterward. Today, Cortesi is continuing college and is currently enrolled in a real estate management course.

“It’s so perfect because [I am someone who] will not do something if I’m not very passionate about it and that’s why my motivation to go back to college is my real estate license,” Cortesi stated on one of her vlogs.

She also added that taking up a real estate management course would let her become a way for more people to see the beauty of the Philippines.

After knowing the gist of who Celeste Cortesi is, let us all support and hope that she brings home the crown for Miss Universe 2023.
