About 3,000 young learners in this city were awarded a one-year scholarship worth PHP15,000 each under the government’s Integrated Scholarship and Incentives Program (ISIP) on Thursday.

During the Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Fair (BPSF) – MinDANow: Serbisyo Para sa Mindanao event, House of Representatives Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez announced that, in addition to the scholarship, the beneficiaries would also receive PHP5,000 cash through the Assistance for Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program, along with 5 kg. of well-milled rice.

“No one will leave lonely, and everybody will be happy. We will continue the BPSF program of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and include the youth as its beneficiaries,” Romualdez said in his speech at the University of Southeastern Philippines gymnasium.

He underscored the importance of education, urging the youth to persevere in their studies.

“Study hard; education and your school training are the things that cannot be stolen from you. Your perseverance is key to a good life,” he said.

With 203 House members present at the event, Romualdez said Congress is committed to creating laws that would improve the lives of Filipinos, especially the marginalized.

“We, at the Congress, will find ways to provide you with a better life and solutions to your problems,” he said.

In addition to the scholarship and cash assistance for the learners, Romualdez also led the distribution of aid to 3,000 drivers under the “Cash Assistance and Rice Distribution Day” (CARD Day) initiative. Each driver received PHP5,000 in cash and 25 kg. of rice as part of the government’s relief efforts.

The cash aid for drivers was provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and facilitated by the Dumper party-list, targeting drivers in the region.

“We are here, ready to sit and serve you,” he added, reinforcing the government’s commitment to supporting the people of Mindanao.

The BPSF service caravan aims to distribute PHP1.2 billion in programs and cash assistance to 250,000 beneficiaries in Davao City, with payouts running until Sept. 6. (PNA)
