Some 370 individuals in Camarines Sur province have now started with their emergency employment under the cash-for-work project of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program.

In an interview on Wednesday, Ranelle Anne Sertan, Kalahi-CIDSS spokesperson, said the beneficiaries in Barangay Siembre, Bombon town were identified based on the risk disaster and need and analysis (RDANA) tool of the village.

“We distributed forms to know what the priority needs in the barangay are, and based on the result, they need work. So one of the programs under the KALAHI-CIDDS is the cash-for-work,” Sertan said.

She also said the regional office has allocated PHP1.2 million for the project in Camarines Sur.

“The beneficiaries will be employed for 10 days and expected to receive an amount of PHP3,100 each based on the minimum wage rate set by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards-Bicol,” Sertan added.

She said the program aims to provide emergency employment to villagers who do not have a means of livelihood.

Annalyn Lat, one of the beneficiaries who started working early this week, said the program is a big help for her family.

“Bilang isang ina at parte ng komunidad, malilinisan na namin ang buong barangay, may kikitain din kami para sa pamilya (As a mother and a part of the community, we will be able to clean our barangay and earn something for our family),” she said.

Kalahi-CIDSS is a poverty alleviation program of the national government implemented by the DSWD. (PNA)
