The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed three road infrastructure projects in Bataan that would now provide safe, fast, and reliable travel.

With a total cost of PHP74.5 million, the three newly-completed road projects implemented by the Bataan 2nd District Engineering Office include the rehabilitation of damaged paved roads at the Junction Layac-Balanga-Mariveles Port Road in Orion, asphalting of the Governor J.J. Linao road in Pilar, and the improvement of the existing access road that connects Bagac-Mariveles Road.

Engr. Ulysses C. Llado, the district engineer of the Bataan 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO), said on Tuesday that these projects were implemented in support of the government’s goal of enhancing mobility along the areas to provide enhanced economic activities and boost the tourism industry in the province.

“Taking seriously the threat of the Covid-19, we remind our field workers to strictly comply with the imposed health and safety protocols in construction sites. We know that the construction sector can help lead the recovery of our local economy, the reason why we are determined to fast-track the implementation of these projects and at the same time, ensure the safety of our employees in the different project sites,” Llado said in an official social media account post.

Meanwhile, the Bataan 2nd DEO also disclosed the completion of the PHP49 million flood control structure along the Umagol River in Bagac town, which is expected to ease the worries of families living in flood-prone areas. (PNA)
