Now that the number of Covid-19 cases in the country is decreasing, local governments have decided to lift the bans and reopen tourism to all visitors, subject to the implementation of safety protocols and travel requirements.

Local concerts, as well as amusement parks and museums, are now available to the public. Last month, festivals were also celebrated, and this month, two exciting festivals will be celebrated that you should not miss!

1. Kaamulan Festival 2022

The Kaamulan Festival of Bukidnon is back after two years of cancellation of its annual celebration. This festival is a gathering of Bukidnon tribespeople for a purpose. A dating ritual, a wedding ceremony, a thanksgiving festival during harvest time, and a peace pact are put together in this festival.

The government of Bukidnon is set to hold the Kaaluman Festival 2022, beginning on March 23 and ending on April 23. To keep and implement the health protocols, they will not include street dancing competitions and will also not create booths at the Capitol Grounds to avoid creating crowds.

These are the following events that’s waiting for you:

March 16 – Soil Painting, Tribal Instrument Making and Playing (Capitol Grounds, Malaybalay City)
March 17 – Panalawahig Ritual (Kaamulan Folk Arts Theater and at Kalawaig River)
March 18 – Tribal Wedding (Capitol Grounds specifically at the Centennial Stage)
March 25 to April 8 – Culture and Arts Exhibit (Robinsons Place Valencia)
March 26 to April 23 – Ethno Cultural Festival (Kaamulan Grounds) – March 26 (Kulahi), April 2 (Ayani), Talahari (April 9), Kulabu (April 9) and April 23 (4 Bands)
April 22 to 23 – Kaamulan Marathon
February to April – Piniliyapan Hu Bukidnon (Glimpse of Bukidnon, Tulugan of the Indigenous Cultural Communities)

2. Sipalay Kite Festival 2022

This March 31 is the start of the Kite Flying Competition for Sipalay City’s Burangoy Tourism Kite Festival! Only a few slots remain so make sure you sign up and get yourself registered if you want to experience firsthand how to fly a kite.

To mark the start of the festival, a Kite Making Workshop was held last February 23 and 24 as part of the said festival by the Local Government Unit of Sipalay City through the efforts of the City Tourism Office headed by Mr. Jerick Lacson. The two-day workshop was focused on making various types of kites such as Flat Kite Plain, Plain Kite Folding, Box Kite, and Figure or 3D Kite.

The LGU of Sipalay City already announced that the Flat Kites and Message of Hope Kites categories are already full and only the Figure Kites and Barungoy Kites have remaining slots.

They will only accept 10 participants on a first-come-first-serve basis per category to follow the safety protocols.

If you’re fully vaccinated and go for a good trip outside your zone, don’t miss these festivals and enjoy all the exciting activities waiting for you!
