Two children are among 16 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in this province as per report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) Saturday night.

This brought the total number of infections in the province to 575.

Governor Albert Garcia on Sunday said the young patients are an eight-year-old girl from Abucay and a six-year-old girl from Mariveles. They are among the 14 out of the 16 new confirmed Covid-19 cases who had close contact with those earlier tested positive of the virus.

Meanwhile, the number of those who recovered from the dreaded disease rose to 353 with seven new recorded recoveries.

The new recoveries are: one from Mariveles, two from Dinalupihan and four from Balanga City.

The active cases, on the other hand, climbed to 207 while the number of deaths remained at 15.

The PHO said 575 were tested positive, 9,408 tested negative while 169 are still waiting for the results out of the 10,152 who have taken the Covid-19 tests. (PNA)
