An additional 14,000 households in Davao City now have access to clean and reliable tap water, according to Apo Agua Infrastructura, Inc., the city’s private bulk water supplier.

In a statement on Tuesday, Apo Agua said that in just two years, the Davao City Water District (DCWD) has increased its new water service connections from 8,600 in 2022 to more than 21,000.

This milestone is part of the ongoing service expansions of the Davao City Bulk Water Supply Project (DCBWP), a partnership between Apo Agua and the DCWD. The project taps the Panigan-Tamugan River to sustainably supply surface water to the city.

Recent DCWD statistics show that 95 percent of the water district’s service area now enjoy continuous water service. Satisfaction levels have reached an all-time high of 99.6 percent, with 99.9 percent in previously underserved areas such as Cabantian and Panacan.

Evelyn del Campo, an eatery owner, recalled past instances where her business had no water service for two days.

“This time, there is no water interruption and the water pressure has improved,” she said.

Apo Agua said the improved water access “demonstrates what’s possible when local government, service providers, and communities come together with a shared vision: that every household deserves access to water and opportunity.” (PNA)
