7. Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe (2017)

Question: “Why should you be the next Miss Universe?”

Answer: “To be a Miss Universe is an honor and a responsibility. If I were to be Miss Universe, I will use my voice to influence the youth and I would raise awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness to certain causes like HIV awareness that is timely and relevant to my country, which is the Philippines. I want to show the world – the universe rather – that I am confidently beautiful with a heart.”

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach still managed to correct herself while smiling despite looking nervous during the Q&A portion that year.

What’s more memorable about Wurtzbach’s year though, is because she included in of one of the most infamous events in the Miss Universe pageant. The host of that year’s pageant, Steve Harvey, mistakenly announced the wrong winner as the whole world was watching live. What made it worse, Miss Colombia was already wearing the crown and basking in her victory when Harvey interrupted the happenings, which prompted Miss Universe 2014 Paulina Vega to remove it from her head.

Pia, who did not know how to react, walked the stage as she waves to the crowd—trying her best to remain composure.

This moment was referenced so many times on so many shows (even Harvey himself) and has garnered an incredible amount of memes.
