A great opportunity for aspiring content creators has just opened as SMART and YouTube partnered to make the search for 2021’s NextUp creator.

Started in 2011, NextUp is a YouTube contest that searches for YouTube content creators as well as supports their growth through various training workshops, networking, and equipment provision.

Joining hands with one of the leading network providers in the country, YouTube and SMART’s collaboration for NextUp offers more promising rewards to their contestants. The event started to accept entries last September 14 and will be open for all until October 5.

NextUp will be allowing “teams” to participate, aside from individual contestants, where a team is defined as a group of individuals working together under a single Channel that meets other eligibility requirements of the event Yet Organizations, partnerships, companies, and other juridical entities are not allowed to register themselves. A team will need to identify one individual member to represent their team in all aspects of the contest.

Additional to the ineligible participants are Google employees, officers, directors, interns, contractors, representatives, agents, and official office-holders of Google, their respective parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, and advertising and promotion agencies, their immediate families, and members of the households of Sponsor Entities.

To enter the event, participants are needed to submit the YouTube Channel URL and complete 3 short essays of a maximum of 200 words answering questions that are critical to the event.

12 Filipino content creators will be chosen based on their YouTube Channel metrics, including but not limited to how well do their videos draw viewers’ attention, how original and innovative their contents are, how their videos tell good stories and other parameters in the sole discretion and determination of the sponsor. Finalists will receive an equipment stipend worth PHP100,00 including free data packs. From the 12 content creators, 3 will be picked and granted a 12-month endorsement contract with SMART. Chosen creators will be notified via email starting October 26.

They will be also entitled to participate in an online creator camp and will receive mentorship not only from industry experts but as well as from NextUp alumni and current Youtube content creators. The online camp will revolve around production skills, audience development, and channel growth. Also, there will be a separate series of online training workshops for the non-finalists.

NextUp Live might be the biggest project of the finalists, as each one is required to partake in it, at least 1 out of 3 potentially scaled educational events as guest speakers that will occur virtually after the Creator Camp.

Sounds enticing? SMART and YouTube’s partnership might discover the next biggest content creator from the country.

As of writing, NextUp has helped over 500 creators in creating great content and take a step forward in bringing their channels to a whole new level from more than 13 countries across the globe. In the Philippines, notable YouTube content creators such as Raiza Contawi, Team Lyqa, and Renee Dominique had NextUp help them in launching their careers.
