A 13-year-old pianist from the Philippines emerged as the champion at the 2024 Fukuoka International Music Competition in Japan last August 6, 2024.

Juan Carlos “Uno” Profeta won the finals round of the Piano Solo Junior Category (Age 13-Under) at the competition which was held in Fukuoka Airefu Hall.

In an online video posted by Etude Casa Musica, Uno’s piano school, Uno expressed his appreciation and gratitude to all his fans and supporters, saying that he was surprised by the amount of praise he received following the competition.

“Gusto ko po i-share that I’m still in the process of learning and developing my piano playing skills more. And with God’s grace, I hope to be back to share bigger and better news at the right time,” he added, hinting at the next milestone in his journey in the future.

A pianist prodigy, Uno brought attention to Filipino pianists, saying that they also deserved the same recognition he was given: “Marami pong magagaling na Filipino in the field of classical music. Sana mapansin niyo rin po sila.”

“Maraming salamat po muli. Ako po si Uno Profeta, proudly Filipino,” he concluded.

The Fukuoka International Music Competition is organized by the Association of International Music & Arts Limited (AIMA), a performing arts organization that aims to create a global artistic network for performing arts and artists to thrive and be nurtured.
