Registered female voters outnumber males by at least 1.5 million, according to data from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday.

Comelec’s Election Records and Statistics Division showed that out of the 65,721,230 eligible voters in the country, 33,644,237 are women while 32,076,993 are men.

Of the total, Region 4-A has the highest number of voters with 9,192,205, with 4,852,037 of them females.

The National Capital Region (NCR) came in second with 7,301,393, (3,976,902 females and 3,324,491 males).

Quezon City has the most registered voters in NCR with 1,403,895 (774,898 females and 628,997 males) followed by Manila with 1,112,081 (590,972 females and 521,109, male).

After NCR are Region 3-Central Luzon with 7,289,055 (3,767,563 females and 3,521,492 males); Region 7-Central Visayas, 5,202,289 (2,665,418 females and 2,536,871, male); and Region 6-Western Visayas, 5,206,305 (2,550,639 females and 2,475,666 males).

However, there are still regions where there are more male voters: Region 8-Eastern Visayas, 3,166,262 (1,565,081 females and 1,601,181 males); Region 12- Soccsksargen, 2,692,772 (1,330,504 females and 1,362,268 males); Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, 2,583,077 (1,288,417 females and 1,294,660 males); Region 9-Zamboanga Peninsula, 2,296,058 (1,144,821 females and 1,151,237 males); and Region 13-Caraga, 1,868,059 (916,887 females and 951,172 males).

The Office for Overseas Voting also reported that 1,697,215 are registered for the May 9 polls, both land (1,677,631) and sea-based (19,584).

The majority are in the Middle East and Africa with 786,997, followed by the Asia Pacific with 450,282, North and Latin America with 306,445, and Europe with 153,491.

Of the number, 1,072,159 are female workers while 625,056 are males. (PNA)
