The entire time that we have been quarantined inside our homes, it is safe to assume that a lot of people have been longingly staring out their windows to try to remember what it feels like to be out there, enjoying life. Once upon a time, it wasn’t so dangerous outside. Now, we are all just sitting by our windows, waiting for everything to be all right.

We are not certain as to when that will happen again. Fortunately, an upcoming Orionid meteor shower this October 20 and 21 will definitely ease us all while we stand by and wait for the world to heal.

According to space.com, Orionids are named for their radiance near the constellation Orion, which is one of the easiest constellations to spot and is also a derivative of Halley’s Comet. It is recommended by Bill Cooke, NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office lead, to check out Betelgeuse, the red star, while viewing the Orionid. The said shower can also outburst and reach higher rates, but as only reached low to average displays in recent years, according to AMS.

The shower will have its period activity on October 2 to November 7 this year but will peak on October 20 and 21. So make sure to peek at those three stars making up Orion’s belt! Might as well have a stargazing date with your family and friends while you’re at it!
