Vice Ganda recognized the sacrifice and service of Filipino stage performers by calling them heroes in the latest episode of “Everybody, Sing” on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z.
According to Vice, performers are selfless because they forget about themselves once they start to perform. All that matters to them is that the viewers enjoy the show.
Vice made these statements after hearing the story of Hazel, a singer who lost her livelihood because of the pandemic and is now earning through performing online or “streaming.”
The host of the country’s first community singing game show also encouraged viewers to support streamers like Hazel.
“Kung kayo’y nababagot, panoorin niyo ‘yung mga nagsi-stream na performers doon kasi ang gagaling nila.’Yung mga nakikita niyo dati sa TV na hindi niyo na nakikita ngayon nando-doon, mae-entertain nila kayo and at the same time makakatulong kayo sa kanila ‘pag pinanonood niyo ‘yung mga streaming nila at kung makapagbibigay kayo ng mga gifts sa kanila,” said Vice.
Hazel and the rest of the songbayanan of stage performers had a strong start in the jackpot round but failed to get the last two songs for the P500,000 prize. They went home with P40,000 on top of the individual cash prizes they won in the earlier rounds.
The songbayanan of tourism industry workers that played last Saturday (September 4), meanwhile, guessed only three out of the ten songs in the final round but went home with a new experience and a renewed hope.
