Manila and Quezon City have both administered over two million doses of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) vaccine.

In a Facebook post, the QC government said as of 8 a.m. on Thursday, a total of 2,472,780 Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the city,

The city government announced that they have already reached the 70 percent target population for the first dose vaccination, which is equivalent to a total of 1,716,965 individuals.

Meanwhile, the total number of QC residents who are now fully vaccinated is 849,545, or 49.97 percent of their target population.

Of this number, 755,815 or 47.05 percent have received two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine while the remaining 93,730 individuals received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

QC Mayor Joy Belmonte attributes the success of the city’s Protektodo vaccination program to their health workers, staff, and volunteers.

Belmonte is encouraging QC residents who have not received the Covid-19 vaccine yet to register at the QC Vax Easy platform via https://qceservices.quezoncity.gov.ph/qcvaxeasy.

Meanwhile, the city government of Manila recorded a total of 2,009,171 Covid-19 vaccines doses that have been administered in the city as of 6 p.m. on September 1.

Manila Mayor Francisco ‘Isko Moreno’ Domagoso earlier announced that the city has already achieved more than the target population for the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine since its vaccination program started in March.

A total of 1,265,473 individuals or 118.81 percent have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in Manila, and of this number, 782,505 are already fully vaccinated.

Of the fully vaccinated individuals, 38,087 received the single-shot Janssen vaccines administered in the city.

Domagoso thanked Manila residents who heeded the government’s call to get vaccinated.

He assured that the city government will continue to address the present Covid-19 situation not only for its residents but for non-Manilans as well.

Domagoso added that the city government has procured life-saving medication such as Tocilizumab and Remdesivir for anyone who needs it.

“Delikado po talaga ang sitwasyon natin kaya sa totoo lamang, ang pamahalaan, katulad ng pamahalaang lokal ng Maynila ay patuloy na dapat tumutugon sa pangangailangan ng tao sa loob ng pandemyang ito (We are still in a dangerous situation, that is why the government, like the local government of Manila continues to respond to the people’s needs in this pandemic),” Domagoso said.
