The Social Security System (SSS) in Western Visayas said members and pensioners affected by Typhoon Ursula in December last year may now avail of the Calamity Assistance Package (CAP).

Amiel Genova, SSS West Visayas 2 Division senior member service representative and acting senior communications analyst, said calamity loan is offered from January 15 to April 14 this year.

In an interview Saturday, Genova said qualified for the loans are pensioners and regular-paying SSS members residing in areas placed under a state of calamity by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

To qualify for the program, he said the member should have paid a minimum of 36 monthly contributions, six of which have been paid within the 12-month period before the date of application.

“Those who have residents in Kalibo and Malay, Aklan; Carles and Concepcion in Iloilo are areas listed by the NDRRMC under a state of calamity. They can avail of the calamity assistance package (CAP),” Genova said.

The CAP includes a loan program, which is different from the regular salary loan, where members are allowed to borrow up to PHP20,000 depending on their monthly salary credit as well as financial assistance to pensioners who can advance three months of their monthly pension.

Applicants must submit a certification from their respective village or municipality declared by the NDRRMC as under state of calamity, valid identification card, and SSS calamity loan form available online.

Genova said applications are welcome at their offices at TTW building, Mapa Corner, J.M. Basa Street here; SSS Robinsons Iloilo Service Office; SSS Molo GT Plaza Mall; SSS Passi City; and branches located in the provinces in Western Visayas. (PNA)
