Tricycle Operators and Drivers Associations (TODA) in eight cities in Northern Mindanao will receive cash relief assistance this week.

In a statement, Department of Social Welfare and Development-Northern Mindanao (DSWD-10) Director Glofelia Uayan said they will srart the distribution on April 8, amounting to PHP5,000 per driver.

The assistance is provided under the DSWD’S Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations.

“This assistance is a vital lifeline for our TODA drivers, who are among the hardest hit by rising fuel costs,” she said.

Aside from this city, the initial rollout will include El Salvador City and Gingoog City in Misamis Oriental; Malaybalay City and Valencia City in Bukidnon; and Ozamiz City, Tangub City and Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental.

Iligan City, meanwhile, is not eligible for the payout because its public transport system lacks a localized structure. (PNA)
