A wide array of locally-made products in this province is being showcased in a trade fair at the Capitol compound here as part of activities for the 81st Araw ng Kagitingan and Bataan Day.

Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III said the trade fair that started Tuesday will operate until Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“We invite our province mates to patronize our products that we can be proud of not only in our province but in the whole country,” the governor said in an interview.

Always present in every trade fair in Bataan are the much-sought “tuyo” (dried fish), “bagoong” (shrimp paste) and smoked fish.

Also for sale are salted and sweetened peanuts, cashew nuts, cashew butter, araro cookies, bread, cakes, fruits, turmeric tea, turmeric coffee, kamote chips, vegetables, plants, flower pots and personal household items like leather bags, slippers, among others.

Named as Araw ng Kagitingan Trade Fair, it is supervised by the Provincial Tourism Office, the Department of Trade and Industry Provincial Office and the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office.

The week-long Bataan Day celebration is in remembrance of the “Fall of Bataan” on April 9, 1942 when after three months of intense fighting, Filipino and American soldiers were forced to surrender to the superior invading Japanese troops. (PNA)
