The town of San Francisco in Agusan del Sur thanked President Rodrigo R. Duterte and Senator Christopher “Bong” Go for establishing two more temporary treatment and monitoring facilities for coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) patients.

In a statement on Wednesday, Mayor Solomon Rufila said the municipality has received a total of PHP3 million in aid for putting up the facilities from the Office of the President via the senator.

“The people of San Francisco, Agusan del Sur express their utmost gratitude to the people behind the success of the establishment of these facilities, especially to the Office of the President Rodrigo Roa Duterte through Sen. Christopher ‘Bong’ Go,” Rufila said.

The facilities were formally opened on Tuesday and will start to support the town’s Covid-19 response.

“The need to open additional treatment and monitoring facilities came from the increasing number of positive cases in the locality,” Rufila said.

He added that the town will provide comfortable accommodations for residents who are infected with Covid-19, especially returning overseas workers.
The new facilities in Barangays Pisaan and Hubang have 13 prefabricated air-conditioned isolation rooms.

Based on the latest data from the provincial health office on Tuesday, the town has recorded a total of 1,122 Covid-19 infections, with 964 recoveries, 121 remaining active cases, and 37 deaths. (PNA)
